Direct from the National Candle Association, here are a few tips on how to keep your holiday season safe while using candles.

Always keep a burning candle within your sight. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Be especially careful with flammable decorations or placing candles too close to Christmas greenery or Christmas trees.
Always use a candleholder specifically designed for candle use. The holder should be heat resistant, sturdy and big enough to collect dripping wax. Never place pillars or any candles directly on furniture, whether glass or wood, or directly on greenery.
Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.
Trim candlewicks to ¼ inch before lighting or re-lighting, and keep the wax-pool free of wick trimmings, dust, matches and debris at all times. Too-long wicks can cause uneven burning, smoking and dripping.

Well tomorrow is the big day… Thanksgiving Day!! A day to say thanks, spend time with family and friends and eat.. til you fall asleep.
It’s also a day to spruce up your home with candles and other decorations. Why not add a candle to your table full of meats, sweets and vegetables? It doesn’t have to be expensive, but it should say something about your personality. Unscented candles will do the trick. Look for a candle called a taper or candle stick (Hah!!). These candles are shaped like long sticks, with a base that is longer in diameter than its top. (See picture.) Just stick the taper (or candle stick) in a candle holder and voila! Instant beauty. You won’t be sorry and your guests will be wow’d by your style. Then tell em where you got them… iveseenthelight.com.
